Gary Hunt (born June 11, 1984), also known as Roger Gary Hunt, is a professional sports diver who specializes in high diving or cliff diving. He owns the championship record and was the 2019 World champion in high diving at the World Aquatics Championships. Hunt is the most successful male diver in the brief history of the FINA-recognized event, having won silver in the 2013 edition.
Hunt, a former Olympic contender and Commonwealth diver, finished third in the 10m Synchro event at the 2006 Commonwealth Games and has won multiple medals at the Great Britain National Diving Championships. He has quickly risen to the top of the sport after deciding to concentrate his diving career on the specialized discipline of cliff diving. He is currently regarded as the current World Champion after winning the Red Bull Cliff Diving World season in 2010, the sport’s top championship, and demonstrating total dominance throughout the season. He is known for taking the sport to new heights and creating innovative maneuvers to keep one step ahead of his rivals. In 2020, he obtained French citizenship. At the 2024 Summer Olympics, he competed for France and finished eighth in the men’s 10-meter synchronized platform event alongside partner Lois Szymczak.
