Eeshwar Niwas

Biography:

E. Niwas, also known as Eeshwar Niwas or E. Nivas, is an Indian filmmaker known for his work in Hindi cinema. Originally from Hyderabad, he entered the film industry through assistant-directing work and developed his filmmaking experience under the influence of director Ram Gopal Varma. His career gained considerable attention with Shool (1999), a crime drama recognised for its intense portrayal of corruption, politics and the challenges faced by an honest police officer.

Following the success of Shool, E. Niwas directed films across several genres. Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega brought together crime and comedy, while Dum explored ambition, friendship and the consequences of choices. He later directed projects such as Bardaasht, My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves, De Taali and Total Siyapaa. These films demonstrate his willingness to work with different storytelling styles rather than remain limited to a single genre.

E. Niwas also expanded into digital entertainment, directing series including Your Honor and Tanaav. His career reflects the transition of an Indian filmmaker from theatrical cinema to streaming productions. Although many details about his private life and education are not publicly confirmed, his directorial work—particularly Shool—remains the most widely recognised part of his professional legacy.
