Indian film director, cinematographer, actor, and screenwriter Dinesh Babu (also known as Dinesh Babu) is recognized for his work in Kannada cinema. He was born in Trivandrum, Kerala, India. Throughout their five-decade career, he has written the screenplay for six movies in addition to directing more than 40. In addition to two Cinema Express Awards, he has won two Filmfare Awards South and two Karnataka State Film Awards. He commenced his filmmaking career as a cinematographer.
He worked as the director of photography on well-known Malayalam film hits, including Dhruvam, Ullasa Poonkattu, and the 1994 hit Commissioner, which helped Suresh Gopi achieve popularity. His most notable work as a cinematographer was the 1995 Malayalam box office juggernaut The King, directed by Shaji Kailas and at the time the biggest grossing movie in that language. In the Ramesh Aravind-directed movie Accident, he made his first appearance in front of the camera as a police officer.
