Diane Keaton
Biography:
Diane Keaton was a celebrated American actress whose distinctive personality, natural acting style and unconventional fashion made her one of Hollywood’s most recognisable performers. Born Diane Hall in Los Angeles, she developed an interest in acting at a young age and pursued theatrical training before building a career on stage and screen. She adopted her mother’s maiden name, Keaton, as her professional surname.
Her major breakthrough came with The Godfather in 1972, in which she played Kay Adams, Michael Corleone’s partner. She reprised the role in later instalments of the franchise, portraying a woman caught between love, family and the dark realities of organised crime. In 1977, she reached another career milestone with Annie Hall, earning the Academy Award for Best Actress and becoming an influential figure in American romantic comedy.
Throughout her career, Keaton moved comfortably between serious dramas and light-hearted comedies. Films such as Reds, Baby Boom, Father of the Bride, The First Wives Club and Something’s Gotta Give demonstrated her versatility. Outside acting, she worked as a director, producer and author, with interests in photography, architecture and design.
