Derek Wilson (born July 19, 1982) is an American television actor known for his roles in Rectify, AMC’s Preacher, and Hulu’s Future Man, where he portrays the character Wolf. He also appears in Amazon Prime Video’s Gen V and The Boys as the superhero Robert Vernon, also known as The Tek-Knight.
Originally from Bowling Green, Kentucky, Wilson attended Western Kentucky University, where he chose theater as his major by randomly selecting it from a list of options. He later moved to New York City, initially working in sound design before performing in various Shakespearean productions. Eventually, he earned an MFA in acting from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
During pilot season in Los Angeles, Wilson secured a role in Preacher, followed by Future Man. In Gen V, a spin-off of The Boys, he played the superhero detective Robert Vernon / The Tek-Knight, later reprising the role in the fourth season of The Boys.
Wilson was once a vegan but now follows a vegetarian diet. He is an avid fan of Louisville Cardinals men’s basketball and enjoys tennis. He also owns a pit bull and has made a cameo appearance in an unspecified project.
