Gyasi was born on January 2, 1980, in Hammersmith, London. Her parents, Ashanti Ghanaians who immigrated to England in 1966, had seven children. When he was younger, they almost got divorced. Gyasi was raised in Hayes and Fulham. He finished his A Levels at East Berkshire College after attending Bishopshalt School. He continued on to Middlesex University to study drama.
In the same year, Gyasi secured his first significant film role in Michael Caton-Jones’ Shooting Dogs and his first major television role as Jeremy Hands in the 2005 ITV comedy Mike Bassett: Manager, which was a sequel to Mike Bassett: England Manager (2001). Gyasi costarred with Kit Harington in the 2008 War Horse staging at the National Theatre.
