Cyrus Sahukar

Biography:

Cyrus Sahukar is a versatile Indian actor, VJ, writer, host, comedian, and entrepreneur. He has been featured in various Bollywood films and OTT platforms. Born on August 6, 1980, in Mhow, Indore, he is the son of Colonel Behram Sahukar and writer Nimeran Sahukar. His father is Parsi, and his mother is Punjabi. His paternal grandfather, Brigadier Adi Sahukar, served alongside Sam Manekshaw in the army. After his parents separated when he was four, Cyrus moved to Delhi to live with his grandmother.

Cyrus has an elder sister, Preeti Philip, an artist. He attended St. Columba’s School in Delhi and graduated from Delhi University’s Delhi College of Arts and Commerce. By 14, he was the lead singer of his school band. At 18, he won the MTV VJ Hunt alongside Mini Mathur and Asif Seth, prompting his move to Mumbai.

Starting his career in theater at six, Cyrus was involved in various plays. Cyrus began his MTV journey by winning the MTV VJ Hunt and hosting MTV Chill Out. He starred in MTV Fully Faltoo and created characters like Piddhu The Great and Semi Girebaal, a parody of Rendezvous with Simi Garewal. He hosted the first season of MTV Roadies in 2003 and later collaborated with Cyrus Broacha on MTV123, which evolved into Cy vs Cy.

Branching out from MTV, he worked with channels like POGO, Star TV, UTV, and Zee TV, hosting shows like Business Baazigar and Hole in the Wall. He continued to host various game and quiz shows, including HDFC SpellBee and Wild Wisdom Quiz. He co-hosted India’s Got Talent and other shows like Sab Khelo Sab Jeeto and The Bench.

Cyrus’s film debut was in Om Jai Jagdish (2002), followed by roles in Rang De Basanti (2006), Delhi-6 (2009), and Aisha (2010). He starred in Love Breakups Zindagi (2011) and had a cameo in Khubsoorat (2014). He appeared in the Amazon Prime series Mind the Malhotras and the film Kadakh (2019), which he co-wrote. He continued to act in series like Potluck and Kaun Banegi Shekharvati.
Recently, he ventured into entrepreneurship with his restaurant, Kulcha Bros, and married his long-term partner, Vaishali Malahara, in 2022.
