Indian screenwriter and director Badri mainly works in the Tamil cinema business. His career began with the television series Malargal, and in 2007 he made his cinema debut with Veerappu.
In the beginning of his career, Badri directed television shows for Sun TV, including Aadugiran Kannan and Malargal. Subsequently, he transitioned into the film industry, serving as Sundar C.’s assistant and directing him in Veerappu, the Malayalam film’s version of Spadikam. When the movie came out in 2007, reviews were divided. Some said it was a “racy commercial entertainer”, while others said it wasn’t as excellent as the original.
He worked with Sundar C. once more on the film Ainthaam Padai, which was panned by critics who claimed the filmmaker had plagiarized parts of the Malayalam movie Devasuram. After that, he wrote and directed Thambikku Indha Ooru, which starred Bharath. The movie was poorly regarded by critics and did not do well at the box office. He composed the dialogue for Kalakalappu, directed by Sundar C.
Thillu Mullu was met with conflicting reviews. A lot of the credit for this (feature) should go to filmmaker Badri, whose writing plainly implies that some amount of effort has gone into recreating a cult classic for modern viewers,” stated M. Suganth of The Times of India, who gave it a 3.5/5. Rather than attempting a scene-by-scene redo, he creates fresh scenarios that truly make it a modern movie.”
