Atika Chohan

Biography:

Bollywood screenwriter Atika Chohan is best known for her quirky scripts for films like Waiting (2015) and Margarita With A Straw (2014). Before entering the movie business, Atika worked as a writer. She writes about topics close to her heart, frequently with a social justice bent. She said in an interview that she left journalism in order to use her writing to assist bring attention to these problems.

She relocated to Mumbai after completing a screenwriting course at the Film and Television Institute of India in 2009. She contributed to the 26-episode TV series Rishta.com, which is currently available on Netflix, one year later. Her script for Margarita With A Straw was picked up shortly after that. 2020 will see Atika’s releases, including Chhapaak, a film she co-wrote with director Meghna Gulzar.
