Ashley Miller
Biography:
Ashley Edward Miller (born March 16, 1971) is an American screenwriter and producer recognized for his contributions to the television series Andromeda, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and Fringe. He also co-wrote the films Thor and X-Men: First Class.
Miller was born in Windber, Pennsylvania, but later moved with his family to Gainesville, Virginia, where he was part of the first graduating class at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. After college, he worked as a middle school English teacher before taking a position with the U.S. Navy as an independent defense contractor. Eventually, he relocated to California and began his writing career on Andromeda after meeting one of the show’s producers. He is married and has one son.
In 2000, Miller was hired as a writer for Andromeda and became a consultant on the series the following year, continuing both roles until its cancellation in 2005. During his time on the show, he met Zack Stentz, a former journalist who would become his longtime writing partner. Along with two other writers, Miller and Stentz co-wrote the screenplay for the 2003 film Agent Cody Banks.
The pair went on to collaborate on the revival of The Twilight Zone. After Andromeda ended, they joined Fox’s Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, where they co-produced 22 episodes and co-wrote six more. When that series ended, they transitioned to another Fox project, Fringe, contributing as co-producers on 22 episodes and co-writing four.
In 2006, Disney purchased their original spec script, The Feynman Chronicles, which Miller described as the result of a friendly wager between him and Stentz.
In December 2009, they were hired to adapt the Dark Horse Comics horror miniseries Damn Nation for Paramount Pictures. Speaking to i09, Miller shared that they had delivered a draft that was well received by both Dark Horse and Paramount.
After leaving Fringe in 2010, Miller and Stentz were tapped to write the screenplay for Marvel’s Thor. Soon after, Fox executives invited them to collaborate with producer Bryan Singer and director Matthew Vaughn on X-Men: First Class. Following the film’s production, both writers praised Singer’s creative vision and expressed satisfaction with the film’s tone.
On November 8, 2012, Miller and Stentz published their first novel, Colin Fischer, a young adult story about a teenager with Asperger’s Syndrome navigating high school.
