Arivazhagan Venkatachalam is an Indian film director in Tamil cinema known for his 2009 thriller film Eeram. A gold medallist from the M.G.R. Government Film and Television Training Institute, Arivazhagan Venkatachalam went on to work with Shankar. In 2009, he made his directorial debut with Eeram, produced by Shankar’s production house, S Pictures.
The film had an unconventional theme and plot and became a big hit. Arivazhagan’s second film, Vallinam, was produced by V. Ravichandran and was a very risky endeavor because sports dramas were not often seen in Tamil cinema. Like Eeram, it became a sleeper hit at the box office.
He then remade Memories in Tamil as Aarathu Sinam, with Arulnithi, which was fairly successful at the box office. He reunited with Arun Vijay again for the web series, Tamil Rockerz, and his fifth directorial, Borrder. His third film, Kuttram 23, was received very differently than his first two, but the theme and Arun Vijay’s performance were highly praised. It was a profitable venture.
