Andrew Whitfield was born in Amlwch, Anglesey, on October 17, 1971. In 1976, Whitfield and his family moved to Bull Bay, Anglesey, Wales. He went to Ysgol Gynradd Amlwch and Ysgol Syr Thomas Jones till he was eighteen years old. In England, he attended Sheffield Hallam University to study civil engineering. In 1999, he relocated to Lidcombe, Australia, to work as an engineer. He eventually made Sydney his home. Opening Up, All Saints, The Strip, Packed to the Rafters, and McLeod’s Daughters are just a few of the Australian television shows in which he made appearances.
In the Australian spooky movie Gabriel from 2007, Whitfield landed his first significant part. New Zealand was used to film the 2010 television series Spartacus: Blood and Sand, in which he starred. Whitfield also starred in the Australian thriller The Clinic, which was filmed in Deniliquin and starred Tabrett Bethell (of Legend of the Seeker fame).
