Anangsha Biswas, a well-known Bengali actress, gained popularity for her role in Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana (2012). Originally hailing from Kolkata, she completed her schooling at Pratt Memorial School before graduating from Bhawanipur College. Her journey to Mumbai began after winning the Kolkata round of a reality acting talent hunt show, though she faced initial setbacks and had to return home. Undeterred, she persevered and returned to Mumbai to pursue theatre, achieving her first breakthrough in the play Special Bond directed by Sameer Sharma.
Anangsha ventured into Bollywood with appearances in films such as Khoya Khoya Chand (2007) and Benny and Babloo (2010), where she showcased her talent in supporting roles. Despite the limited screen time, she delivered impactful performances, earning recognition in the industry. She notably portrayed the character of a Bengali war-widow, Shama Chatterjee, in the 2011 Indian comedy film Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, directed by Sameer Sharma and produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur, Anurag Kashyap, and Ronnie Screwvala. Her performance garnered praise from acclaimed producer Anurag Kashyap.
An upcoming German play in Jaipur will feature Anangsha as the lead, under the direction of veteran theatre personality Archana Srivastava. Additionally, she is preparing for her role in Prakash Jha’s Fraud Saiyyan and will also appear in the video of Hema Malini and Babul Supriyo’s duet song – Dream Girl. Anangsha aims to emulate the legacy of Madhubala and Smita Patel, aspiring to leave her mark in both Bollywood and the Bengali film industry.
