Aishwarya Rajinikanth

Aishwarya Rajinikanth, born on January 1, 1982, is a multifaceted Indian personality known for her roles as a film director and playback singer in the Tamil cinema industry. She is the eldest daughter of the legendary actor Rajinikanth and Latha Rajinikanth. Aishwarya’s familial ties to the film industry extend further with her younger sister, Soundarya, also actively involved in the Tamil film industry.

Aishwarya’s journey in the entertainment world commenced as a playback singer in the unreleased film “Ramanaa,” directed by Parthy Bhaskar, with her debut song, composed by Deva, in November 2000. Her first released song, “Natpe Natpe,” featured in D. Imman’s soundtrack for “Whistle” (2003), where she collaborated with the composer and actor Silambarasan.

In a significant career move, Aishwarya made her feature film directorial debut with “3” in 2012, starring her husband, Dhanush, and Shruti Haasan. The film garnered immense anticipation, fueled by the viral success of the song “Why This Kolaveri Di” from its soundtrack, composed by her cousin Anirudh Ravichander.

Aishwarya extended her creative pursuits by announcing the launch of a YouTube channel, “Ten Entertainment,” in July 2015. The platform aimed to exclusively promote original content and short films by aspiring filmmakers, showcasing her commitment to nurturing talent in the industry.

In August 2016, Aishwarya was appointed as India’s goodwill ambassador for the UN Women organization, reflecting her commitment to social causes. However, her Bharatanatyam performance at the UN headquarters on International Women’s Day in March 2017 faced criticism from professional dancers on social media, with accusations of it being a caricature and farcical.

On the personal front, Aishwarya was married to actor Dhanush, and the couple has two sons, Yatra Raja and Linga Raja. The couple announced their separation on January 17, 2022, through their respective social media platforms.

In December 2016, Aishwarya Rajinikanth unveiled her memoir, “Standing on An Apple Box: The Story of A Girl Among the Stars.” The memoir provides insights into her life as a celebrity kid, her career choices, marriage, and the unique experience of being Rajinikanth’s daughter.
