Abhishek Sengupta is an Indian filmmaker, writer, and director who has made a name for himself in the world of Hindi films and digital entertainment. As an assistant director, he has worked on some critically acclaimed films such as No One Killed Jessica (2011), Kahaani (2012), Fukrey (2013), The Letters (2014), Jaanisaar (2015), and Time Traveller (2015). His experience in drama, thriller, and comedy films prepared him well to become an independent director. Bapu (2015) and The Day After (2017) were his directorial ventures that showcased his concern about socially relevant themes and character-driven plots.
He earned a wide recognition after being behind the lens for both seasons of Amazon Prime Video’s Laakhon Mein Ek (2017-2019), especially the second season which received critical acclaim for the sensitive portrayal of India’s rural healthcare system.
