Vivek Agnihotri

Biography:

Hindi film director, producer, and writer Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri was born on November 10, 1973. At the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, he represents Indian cinema culturally and serves on the board of the Central Board of Film Certification in India.

The criminal thriller Chocolate (2005) marked Agnihotri’s directorial debut. Since then, he has directed a number of unsuccessful films that haven’t advanced his career until The Tashkent Files (2019), which became a box office hit and won him the National Film Award for Best Screenplay – Dialogues. In addition, he wrote and directed The Kashmir Files (2022), which won him the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration and became one of the highest-grossing Indian films of that year. The Vaccine War (2023), a medical drama film he later wrote and directed, was a box office failure. In 2024, he published The Kashmir Files: Unreported, a documentary.
