Biography:

Tripuraneni Sai Chand, a versatile talent in the world of Indian entertainment, is known for his work as an actor and documentary filmmaker, primarily in the realm of Telugu cinema, theatre, and television. He has left an indelible mark on the industry through his notable performances in films such as “Maa Bhoomi,” “Fidaa,” and “Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy.”

Born on June 25, 1956, Tripuraneni Sai Chand is the son of the renowned Telugu writer and humanist, Tripuraneni Gopichand, and the grandson of Tripuraneni Ramaswamy. Unfortunately, his father passed away when he was just six years old. Sai Chand received his primary education at Vasavya Vidyalaya in Vijayawada, an institution founded by Goparaju Ramachandra Rao. His initial foray into the world of cinema was as a child actor in the film “Sati Arundhati.” Later, he pursued a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) degree at New Science College in Hyderabad.

Sai Chand’s acting career commenced with “Maa Bhoomi” in 1980, directed by Goutam Ghose. This film marked his debut as an actor and went on to become a box office hit, running for a remarkable year. It received critical acclaim, including the prestigious Nandi award and Filmfare award in the best film category. The film was also showcased at various international film festivals.

Throughout his career, Sai Chand has graced the screen in more than 35 films, predominantly associated with parallel cinema. His filmography includes acclaimed titles like “Manchupallaki,” “Pelleedu Pillalu,” “Ee Charitra Ae Siratho,” “Ee Desamlo Oka Roju,” “Rangula Kala,” “Adavallu Aligithe,” “Ee Chaduvulu Makkodu,” “Siva,” “Ankuram,” “Fidaa,” and “Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy.”

Beyond his acting endeavors, Sai Chand has also ventured into documentary filmmaking. He produced tele-films such as “Pandita Parameshwara Sastry Veelunaamaa” and created documentaries on a wide array of subjects, including grain storage, dry-land agriculture, rice production technology, and information technology for the common man.

His contributions extend to documentary films that celebrate the lives and legacies of veteran filmmakers and artists such as L. V. Prasad, Allu Ramalingaiah, Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, Suryakantam, Anjali Devi, Bapu, Ramana Duo, and others.
