Biography:

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is an Indian filmmaker, occasional actor, and screenwriter renowned for his work on the drama Rang De Basanti (2006) and the biographical sports film Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013), both of which earned him Filmfare Awards for Best Director. His portfolio also includes the supernatural thriller Aks (2001) and the drama Delhi-6 (2009).

Born on July 7, 1963, in Delhi, Mehra’s father was employed with The Claridges in Delhi. Although he participated in the 1982 Asian Games selection camp as a swimmer, he did not advance to the final round. Mehra attended Air Force Bal Bharati School and later married film editor P. S. Bharathi in 1992. The couple has two children, Bhairavi and Vedant.
