Actor and producer Prosenjit Chatterjee was born in India on September 30, 1962. He is considered by many to be one of the best actors in contemporary Bengali film. His work is mostly in Bengali movies. Biswajit Chatterjee, a Bollywood actor, is his father.
As a young artist, he made his cinematic debut in Chotto Jigyasa (1968). He debuted as the main character in Duti Pata (1983). His breakout performance was in the 1987 film Amar Sangi. Amar Prem (1989), Shraddhanjali (1993), Unishe April (1994), Bhai Amar Bhai (1996), Sasurbari Zindabad (2000), Deva (2002), Chokher Bali (2003), Dosar (2006), Shob Charitro Kalponik (2009), Autograph (2010), Jaatishwar (2014), Khawto (2016), Praktan (2016), Traffic (2016), Shankhachil (2016), Zulfiqar (2016), Mayurakshi (2017), Jyeshthoputro (2019), Gumnaami (2019), Nirontor (2019), Kacher Manush (2022), Kaberi Antardhan (2023), and other successful films were among his subsequent projects.
Prosenjit, his wife Arpita Pal, an actress, and their son Trishanjit reside in Kolkata. Debashree Roy and Aparna Guha Thakurta were his previous spouses. Prerona Chatterjee is the daughter of Prosenjit and Aparna. Prosenjit purchased the Purulia Panthers, a Bengal Celebrity League cricket team, in 2015.
