Indian dance choreographer Jani Master (born Shaik Jani Basha; born 2 July 1982) specialises in Telugu and Tamil movies. He has also contributed to Hindi and Kannada films. Although he creates choreography for a variety of dance forms, his western and folk styles are his most well-known.
Jani’s career in the film industry began as a dancer in Telugu films and on ETV’s Telugu Television Reality-dance show, Dhee Ultimate Dance Show. He was later offered his first choreography opportunity for the Telugu film “Drona” in 2009. He got his break as a choreographer when actor Ram Charan entrusted him with choreographing the dance sequences for the 2012 Telugu film “Racha.” Following this, Ram Charan consistently chose him as the choreographer for all of his subsequent films. Jani also extended his choreography skills to other notable actors such as Pawan Kalyan, Allu Arjun, N. T. Rama Rao Jr., Ram Pothineni, and Ravi Teja. He even expressed his admiration for Ram Charan through a dedicated song.
In 2014, Bollywood actor Salman Khan sought Jani Master’s services as a choreographer for the movie “Jai Ho.” He has also been entrusted with choreographing various award ceremonies. Jani continues his work as a choreographer in feature films. He has played pivotal roles as a choreographer and mentor in two Television Reality-dance shows. His accomplishments include receiving accolades from prestigious awards like Filmfare Awards, CineMAA Awards, and South Indian International Movie Awards. Starting from 2017, he has served as a judge in numerous Telugu Television reality-dance shows, such as “Neethone Dance” on Star Maa.
In 2018, he showcased his choreography skills in the film “MLA.” In the same year, he worked as an assistant to Prabhudeva for the Tamil song “Rowdy Baby” from the film “Maari 2.” The song gained immense recognition, going viral for its choreography across the Indian subcontinent and beyond.
Continuing his success, Jani earned acclaim once again in 2020 for choreographing the song “Butta Bomma” in the Telugu film “Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo.” The distinctive rolling step from the music video became an iconic move, imitated by numerous celebrities and millions of individuals across various social media and short-video platforms.
