The recent release, Mangalavaaram, faced a disappointing start at the box office during its initial three days, particularly affected by the World Cup final scheduled on Sunday. Despite the anticipation for a good turnout on its first Sunday, the film struggled to garner interest from moviegoers, resulting in notably low performance.
The movie opened with a collection of 2.2Cr shares on the first day, managing to retain 80% of that figure on the second day. However, things took a downturn on day three, with collections dropping significantly to less than 50% of day two’s earnings.
This steep decline, especially with less than 1Cr share in Telugu states, spells trouble for the film’s makers. The overall first weekend worldwide share stood at around 5Cr, while the theatrical value amounted to 13Cr. Had it not been for the World Cup final, the movie might have achieved approximately 3Cr shares.
This drastic difference has put the buyers in a precarious position, risking heavy losses. Today’s performance will be critical, if Mangalavaaram fails to hold well, it might lead to substantial losses for the buyers.
