Just before the release of Veerapan, Ram Gopal Varma, made quite a few interesting statements when asked about if he is “glorifying a criminal”. The narrative, based on the sandalwood smuggler who made an entire nation shudder. RGV took to Twitter to clarify and said he chiefly made the film to hold “a mirror to how he was allowed to happen in the first place”.
He also, funnily, said, “The story of Veerappan is a proof that just one unpredictable man can overturn an entire existing system. Same is true for Donald Trump too,” he added. Donald Trump although constantly on the receiving end of flak from the people of the world, but drawing a comparison between him and a sandalwood smuggler is taking a little bit too far. The film also stars Sandeep Bharadwaj, Sachiin Joshi, Usha Jadhav and Lisa Ray.
