Sonali Bendre, a prominent actress in Indian cinema during the early 2000s, achieved success with numerous blockbusters in Bollywood and Tollywood. Now 49 years old and a cancer survivor, Bendre has made a comeback to acting, notably in web dramas.
During the promotion of her latest web series, she reflected on her early career and the industry’s dynamics, disclosing the challenges she faced.
In discussing her past, Bendre revealed how her name was often entangled in gossip columns linking her to various male actors. She later realized that some producers and directors fabricated these rumors to boost publicity for the films she was part of—an approach she deemed distasteful.
Despite such obstacles, Bendre starred in notable Hindi hits like “Sarfarosh” and featured in Telugu blockbusters including “Khadgam,” “Murari,” “Indra,” “Manmadhudu,” and “Shankaradada MBBS.”
Bendre married producer Goldie Behl, with whom she has a son. Her return to the entertainment world marks a courageous revival after overcoming health challenges, demonstrating her enduring passion for acting despite the industry’s past turbulence.
