Ram Gopal Verma and Nagarjuna Akkineni are match made in heaven for intense films. They worked in three films and all have been fan favourites even after almost 25 years. Shiva, the debut of Ram Gopal Verma remains a huge success and a cult classic in Indian Cinema. It divided Telugu Cinema into two parts, before Shiva and after. Even though Antham and Govinda Govinda, did not end up achieving same success, they still get good viewership on Television and Antham has cult fans too.
Such intense roles have vanished from Nagarjuna’s career giving in to more demands of commerciality and only Gaganam, after Rakshana showed some intensity in Nag’s role. But the real potential of him going berserk at goons with intent to kill has been missing and RGV promises to bring it back. Nagarjuna in a recent interview said that he asked Ramu to drop all his other projects and ideas to work on this scriot two months ago and once, he is satisfied with the outcome, he gave his consent.
The actor revealed, “This will be a comeback of Ramu. He has been too clustered with many ideas and he shouldn’t have taken up so much. I asked him to drop everything and get the script right to do this film. He did so and I am more concerned about the emotional weight my character has to carry in this film. This will be one of the best in recent times that Ram Gopal Verma has written and I am sure he will be back to form as I can see his hunger like I saw during Shiva time. The movie will start on 20th November and in December, I will work on Hello post production and promotions.”
