Tourist Family, a small Tamil film that released with little hype, has turned into a surprise blockbuster. Featuring Sasikumar and Simran in lead roles, the film marks the directorial debut of Abishan Jeevinth.
What started as a modest release has now caught the attention of acclaimed filmmaker SS Rajamouli.
He took to X to express his admiration, saying, “Saw a wonderful, wonderful film Tourist Family. It’s heartwarming, funny, and kept me engaged till the end”.
Rajamouli also praised Abishan’s writing and direction, calling it one of the best cinematic experiences he’s had in recent years. He encouraged audiences not to miss the film in theaters.
Released on May 1st along with Suriya’s Retro, Tourist Family tells the story of a quirky Sri Lankan Tamil family settling in Rameswaram. The film even surpassed Retro’s collection in Tamil Nadu.
