Maargan is a mystery thriller by Vijay Antony, who also stars, produces, and scores the film. Dubbed into Telugu from Tamil, let’s see how it engages the audience!
Maargan Movie Story: Maargan follows Dhruv (Vijay Antony), who arrives in Hyderabad from Mumbai to investigate a shocking murder where a girl was killed and painted black. As Aravind (Ajay Dhishan) is arrested, Dhruv discovers deeper secrets. The film explores why these murders happen, the reason behind the black paint, and who is truly behind the crimes.
Performances: Vijay Antony delivered a simple performance, strong in serious scenes but weak elsewhere. Ajay Dhishan acted well, though his role lacked proper logic. Mahanadi Shankar added light comedy as a constable. Brigida Saga impressed in a serious role. Sheshwitha Raju shined in a key role, carrying the film with her impactful performance and emotionally layered character.
Technical Aspects: The cinematography, music, and editing in the film are decent. Though the core story is exciting, the way it was presented felt dull. The way the twists were revealed didn’t give much satisfaction. In thrillers, revealing twists is a very crucial part, but director Leo John Paul couldn’t handle it well. After building up the story for two hours, ending it hastily in just five minutes turned out to be the film’s biggest drawback.
Analysis: In thrillers, resolving twists is more important than creating them. Leo John Paul’s handling of this fell short, making the last 20 minutes weak. With better writing and stronger logic, the film could have been much better.
Verdict: Maargan has an interesting premise and decent technical work, but the weak narration and rushed climax dilute the overall impact. A stronger script and better twist execution could have made it a gripping thriller.
Bottom Line: Strong idea, weak execution ruins the impact.
