A series of discussions have been taking place in Hyderabad to address the ongoing problems faced by theatre exhibitors in Tollywood.
Due to a lack of big film releases, many exhibitors suffered heavy losses. Some of them have demanded a shift to a percentage-based revenue model, similar to multiplexes, instead of paying high fixed rents.
In response, top producers, distributors, and exhibitors have been holding meetings at the Telugu Film Chamber for the past few days.
Veteran producer and Chamber General Secretary KL Damodar Prasad announced that the proposed theatre strike has been put on hold. A committee will soon be formed to study the issues and suggest practical solutions. All major stakeholders attended a key meeting today and agreed to work together on resolving the crisis.
An Executive Committee meeting is scheduled for June 30th in Vizag, where important decisions will be made. For now, all the issues affecting June film releases have been cleared.
