Telugu audience are asking for a variety of films and slowly the commercial formula films are changing and giving way to different genres. Once in Telugu Cinema, such times used to exist with Krishna coming with spy thrillers and cowboy movies, even films that resemble westerns in his own style. Chiranjeevi also attempted spy movies but he did not continue with them as late 80’s saw his market bigger than ever and spy thrillers budget posed too many questions.
In 90’s and 2000’s the surge of gangster and formula films kept a comma on all other genres and romantic films took over in late 2000’s with Arya, Bommarillu, Ye Maaya Chesave becoming huge hits. Either a romantic film or a masala film only thrived and that sequence seems to be coming to an end with a market opening for app varieties. After Kshanam proved that thrillers have a place, Goodachari is now proving that budget will not be a disturbing factor if the attempt is good.
The movie is running with house full collections, domestically at many main centers and US Audience too after a long time warming up to a Telugu film. June and July, did not see any movie going close to 500K US dollars but Goodachari is looking to achieve that in the first week and if the good word prevails for another weekend or two, it could end with $700k which will be huge for Adivi Sesh and also a big boost for films coming in different genres.
