Nayanthara, a prominent figure known as Lady Superstar, recently celebrated her 75th film milestone with ‘Annapoorani – The Goddess of Food.’ This Tamil movie, starring Jai, Sathyaraj, KS Ravikumar, and others, was directed by Nikilesh Krishna and released exclusively in Tamil on December 1.
However, the film has found itself embroiled in controversy. Velu, the state president of Rashtriya Hindu Maha Sabha, criticized the storyline, alleging it disrespected the Brahmin community. He specifically objected to the depiction of a romance between a Muslim boy and a Brahmin girl.
Velu demanded a ban on the movie, threatening legal action and promising to obstruct its screening in theaters. He insisted that films targeting Hindu beliefs should not be permitted. The film, jointly produced by Zee Studios, Nat Studios, and Trident Arts, centers around Nayanthara’s character, a woman from a Brahmin family striving to become an outstanding Indian chef, despite opposition from her father.
Despite the controversy, Nayanthara remains actively involved in promoting the film, while no official response has come from the movie’s team regarding the objections raised. ‘Annapoorani – The Goddess of Food’ has garnered mixed reviews but has gained attention due to its distinctive plot, marking a significant milestone in Nayanthara’s illustrious career.
