Vishnu Govind is an Indian re-recording mixer, sound designer, and sound editor who was born on January 15, 1986. He has contributed to more than 150 Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu motion pictures. His work on the Malayalam film Malik (2020) earned him the National Film Award for Best Audiography (re-recordist of the final mixed track). Along with Sree Sankar, Govind received the Kerala State Film Award for Best Sound Design for the 2019 film Ishq and the 2018 film Unda.
Govind, who is from Thiruvalla, studied at St. Berchmans College in Changanassery and earned a degree in physics. He worked on several projects with Sree Sankar, a future sound designer and editor, whom he met at St. Berchmans. They became friends and eventually decided to pursue a career in audio engineering because they both had a strong passion for movies and music.
Govind enrolled in the graduate Sound Engineering & Sound Recording program at the Film and Television Institute of Tamil Nadu (FTIT), formerly Adayar Film Institute, in 2006. He met and became friends with Alphonse Puthren, Karthik Subbaraj, Nalan Kumarasamy, Vijay Sethupathi, Bobby Simha, Rajesh Murgeshan, and Shabareesh Varma while he was a college student. These guys would all go on to become well-known actors, musicians, and directors.
