Venkat Sundar

Biography:

Actor Venkat Sundar hails from Tamil Nadu and primarily plays supporting roles. He was raised in the rural Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, community of Kalveerampalayam, where he also attended the KGISL Institute of Information Management. He had always wanted to be an actor, but he never followed his dreams because his conventional family did not think he should be in movies.

But after graduating in 2008, Venkat changed his mind and worked on several short films with his old friend Ganesh Kumar Mohan (known for his popular short film Kuttimaa), including 536, Achuvam Naanum, Ramasamy, and Oorukku 4 Peru (often abbreviated as O4P). The location of the shooting was Narasipuram. Given Venkat’s innate ability to play comedic roles, the audience thoroughly enjoyed this brief comedy. Shankar cast Venkat in a supporting role as a senior college student for his 2012 Tamil film debut, Nanban. In Yaaruda Mahesh (2013), he played a military man in his subsequent role. In 2014, Venkat’s breakthrough role came when he was cast as “Appu” in the Tamil comedy thriller “Naaigal Jaakirathai” (also known as “Beware of Dogs” in English).

For his acting in the movie, Venkat received particular praise from critics. In December of the same year, he made an additional appearance in “Kappal” (English: The Ship). It was a romantic comedy that did well both critically and commercially when it was released worldwide. Once more, Venkat’s performance was highly valued. After “Kappal” became successful, Venkat relocated to Chennai permanently to pursue his career.

Although Venkat has acknowledged publicly that he never thought he could play leading roles, he has also stated that it didn’t matter to him because he is more concerned with a character’s contribution to the movie than the size of the role.
