Biography:
American actress and singer Sofia Carson, whose real name is Sofia Lauren Daccarett Char, was born on April 10, 1993. She made her television debut in 2014 as a guest star on the Disney Channel sitcom Austin & Ally. She gained fame in 2015 when she played the Evil Queen’s daughter Evie in the Disney musical fantasy Descendants. She also played the same character in the sequels. Since then, she has starred in the following films: The Life List (2025), My Oxford Year (2025), Purple Hearts (2022), a romantic drama on Netflix, a thriller called Carry-On (2024), and the Disney Channel Original Adventures in Babysitting and A Cinderella Story: If the Shoe Fits (2016). In 2015, Carson released the single “Rotten to the Core” and made her musical debut with the soundtrack album for Descendants. “Love Is the Name” was her first solo song after she signed with Hollywood Records in 2016. She released the Diane Warren-penned song “Applause” for the movie Tell It Like a Woman in 2022, along with her self-titled debut studio album.
José F. Daccarett and Laura Char Carson, who both immigrated to Florida from Colombia, welcomed Sofia Lauren Daccarett Char into the world on April 10, 1993 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Sofia decided on the stage name “Carson” in honor of Lauraine Carson, her maternal grandmother from America.
She graduated from Miami’s Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart after attending St. Hugh Catholic School. She competed around the United States as a member of the IMPAC Youth Ensemble program while attending In Motion Dance Studio. After that, she enrolled in UCLA, where she majored in communications and minored in French.
