Shreyas Puranik

Biography:

Puranik was trained in Indian classical music while attending Somalwar Nikalas School School in Nagpur, where he was born and raised. Puranik moved to Mumbai to study music formally under Suresh Wadkar’s tutelage. He then pursued higher studies at Mithibai College. In 2014, he began his Bollywood career by helping director Sanjay Leela Bhansali compose the song “Gajanana” for Bhansali’s film Bajirao Mastani. Puranik wrote music for movies including Faster Fene, Lapachhapi, and Photocopy.

Puranik was honored for his song “Satranga,” which was sung by Arijit Singh and composed by Siddharth-Garima and featured in the film Animal. For writing the song “Satranga,” Puranik received the Filmfare R. D. Burman Award for up-and-coming musical talent.
