Shiva Parvathi

Hailing from a modest background in Tenali, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, Shiva Parvathi, a renowned Telugu actress, navigated her way into the world of acting through sheer talent and determination. Growing up in a lower-middle-class family, her education halted at the 7th standard due to financial constraints, prompting her to step into acting at the young age of 13.

Her foray into the entertainment industry began with stage performances in 1976-1977, where she honed her acting skills over the years until catching the attention of the esteemed Paruchuri brothers during a stage show in 1991. This pivotal encounter led to her debut in the film “Sarpayagam,” where she portrayed a motherly role opposite the legendary actor Sobhan Babu, who offered her reassuring words amid her nervousness, stating, “We also came like you, don’t worry.”

With a husband also entrenched in theatre, her career blossomed, garnering attention from prominent directors like Kodi Ramakrishna, K. Raghavendra Rao, and Ramanaidu. Shiva Parvathi’s repertoire spans over 200 films, marked by her portrayal of motherly characters, a niche she excelled in on the big screen.

Transitioning seamlessly into television, she made her mark in serials like “Radha-Madhu” and currently holds the titular role in “Mangamma Gari Manavaralu,” earning acclaim for her performances. Her personal life, with a software engineer son and two grandchildren, reflects her commitment to positive roles, a trait she cherishes.

Beyond her achievements and accolades, Shiva Parvathi remains vocal about societal issues. She recently expressed disapproval toward individuals resorting to suicide due to love failures, citing her own life’s challenges as a testament to overcoming hardships through talent and perseverance. Her favorite film, “Aahwanam,” and admiration for directors like S.V. Krishna Reddy and K. Vishwanath underscore her passion for cinematic artistry.

Her journey in acting taught her valuable lessons, including discipline from J.V. Ramanamurthy and Gummadi Venkateshwara Rao, with self-confidence as her pillar and kindness as her weakness.
