Shefali Bhushan

Biography:

Shefali Bhushan is an Indian filmmaker, author, director, producer, and actor renowned for her efforts in independent films and digital entertainment. She completed her education in Economics from the University of Delhi, followed by post-graduation in Mass Communication from Jamia Millia Islamia. She started her career as an assistant director and gained experience in various domains, including advertising, documentaries, theater, and television before moving to features films. She made her directorial debut with the musical drama film called Jugni (2016), which she directed, wrote, and produced. The movie stars Sugandha Garg, Siddhant Behl, and Anurita Jha in lead roles, wherein she portrays the story of a music director visiting a village and discovering a talented singer with whom he gets involved in his own music, relationship, desire, and artistic freedom.

Subsequently, she diversified into streaming with her creation of the legal drama called Guilty Minds (2022) created for Amazon Prime Video, wherein she was the creator, writer, director, and executive producer of the ten episodes series. In Guilty Minds (2022), starring Shriya Pilgaonkar, Varun Mitra, Benjamin Gilani, and Sugandha Garg, she narrates the story of two lawyers with different attitudes towards justice taking up cases having modern social and legal matters. The experiences of Shefali Bhushan in the legal world have played an essential role in providing the true feel of courtrooms and cases being argued.

Shefali Bhushan also directed the short film Tambur (2018) and has been a producer for such projects as A Match (2023). She has been active in writing, acting, and filmmaking. The themes she has been portraying in her movies include socially relevant topics, relationships between humans, music, law, and contemporary Indian society.
