Indian actor and choreographer Robert Raj has experience in a variety of regional Indian cinema industries. In addition, he has performed as an actor, frequently taking on evil characters or making brief appearances in choreographed songs.
Robert started out as a kid performer, most famously appearing in Azhagan (1991) as Mammooty’s son. After that, Robert appeared in movies as a villain. He played significant parts in Sathyaraj’s Maaran (2002) and the 2004 film Dancer, which chronicled the journey of a crippled student who became a professional dancer.
Robert was praised by critics for his portrayal of the adversary and went on to win the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Villain later that year. Around the same time, he starred in Pavalakodi (2003), which received negative reviews for Robert’s performance, saying he “struggles to emote and even potentially funny dialogues lose their effect because of his dialogue delivery”
In 2012, Robert was recognized with the Vijay Award for Best Choreographer for his work in Podaa Podi, where he also appeared in the music video for the song “Love Panlamma?”
Actor Tinku made a video public before the release of Motta Shiva Ketta Shiva (2017), in which he claimed that composer Amresh Ganesh had appropriated the song “Hara Hara Mahadevaki” from a movie he and Robert were working on called Thaathaa Car-ai Thodadhae. According to Tinku, Amresh collaborated with them on the song in the beginning of 2015, but production issues caused the movie to be postponed, thus Amresh used the music for another project.
