Pieter Jan Brugge is a Dutch film producer who was born in Deventer, Netherlands, on November 6, 1955. He graduated from the Netherlands Film and Television Academy in Amsterdam in 1979, and the Dutch Ministry of Cultural Affairs then gave him a scholarship to study at the AFI Conservatory (AFI) in the United States, where he obtained the Master of Fine Arts in AFI. He has collaborated with directors Edward Zwick, Alan J. Pakula, and Michael Mann on numerous occasions. He directed The Clearing in 2004 and acted in 127 Hours in 2010.
