In Thuvarankurichi, Tiruchirappalli District, on March 15, 1968, Manushya Puthiran—born as S Abdul Hameed—was the second of four children. He explained his early life, having begun school at the age of seven
Completed his education in a private setting and pursued his first year of a Bachelor of Arts degree at Annamalai University via distance learning programs. He began attending college in his second year, determined not to miss the excitement and experiences of college life. He later completed two master’s degrees, one in history and the other in mass communication.
He started writing professionally in the early 1980s. He published his first poem when he was sixteen years old. Many of his poems were printed in well-known Tamil periodicals, including Kalki, Ananda Vikatan, Kumudam, and Kalachuvadu. Regular contributors to Tamil magazines like Kungumam and Nakkheeran are his political and topical columns.
He is in charge of both the Uyirmmai magazine and publication.
