English actress Laura Carmichael was born on July 16, 1986. She is best known for her role as Lady Edith Crawley in the historical drama series Downton Abbey on ITV (UK) and PBS (US). Her other works include the feature film A United Kingdom (2016) and the television series Marcella (2016). Southampton, England, is where Carmichael was born. She is the middle of three daughters. Olivia, her other sister, is an NHS charity fundraiser, while Amy works for a software start-up.
She had her education at Peter Symonds College, The Mountbatten School, and Shirley Junior School.
