Indian film director and screenwriter Krishnan K. T. Nagarajan, also referred to as N. Krishna, Obeli N. Krishna, and Krishna, is a member of the Tamil cinema industry. In 2006, he made his directing debut with Suriya and Jyothika in the romance drama Sillunu Oru Kaadhal.
Krishna began his cinematic career in Tamil cinema alongside Gautham Vasudev Menon. In both the Hindi version of Minnale and its sequel, Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, he served as associate director. In addition, he co-directed the Telugu versions of Kaakha Kaakha and Gharshana.
Krishna’s romantic flick Sillunu Oru Kaadhal marked his directorial debut. Key parts were played by Suriya and Jyothika, with further key roles coming from Bhumika, Shriya Sharma, Sukanya, Vadivelu, and Santhanam. A. R. Rahman wrote the soundtrack and score for the movie, while Indian poet Vaali wrote the lyrics. R. D. Rajasekhar handled the film’s cinematography, and Anthony, Gautham Menon’s regular, handled the editing. On September 8, 2006, the movie was released, three days prior to Suriya and Jyothika’s nuptials.
Richard Rishi and Gayathrie feature in Krishna’s second film, Yen Ippadi Mayakkinai, which was completed but never released because Pyramid Saimira, the production company, declared bankruptcy. C. Sathya, a rookie music director, composed the music.
The historical drama Nedunchaalai, which is set in the 1980s, marked Krishna’s return to directing in 2012. In February of 2012, the movie was announced. Leading parts were played by Aari and Sshivada. Along with supporting actor Thambi Ramiah, Prashant Narayanan was signed on to play a key part in the movie. C. Sathya wrote the music and score for the movie. Kishore Te, who passed away in 2003, edited the movie, while Rajavel Olhiveeran handled the cinematography.
In December 2013, the film’s distribution rights were acquired by Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies, following an impressive private screening. March 28, 2014, was the film’s long-awaited release date. Both reviewers and viewers gave it relatively positive reviews when it first came out. It proved to be a commercial and critical success in the end. Maane Thene Peye was the director Krishna’s second project. It was shelved, nevertheless, for unclear reasons.
Mufti’s official adaption, Pathu Thala, is his upcoming film. It was originally slated to be directed by Narthan, who oversaw the Kannada version, but Krishna took over for unspecified reasons. Priya Bhavani Shankar, Gautham Karthick, and Silambarasan play the key parts. After Sillunu Oru Kaadhal, this is A. R. Rahman’s second collaboration with Krishna in terms of composition.
