In Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, on October 18, 1969, Neeraj Sood was born He received his elementary education at Vijay High School in Mandi, then he went on to Vallabh Govt College in Mandi to earn his graduate and post-graduation degrees. While performing in college plays, he fell in love with acting. Given his middle-class upbringing, Neeraj Sood chose to enrol in the National School of Drama in New Delhi because he lacked the funds to attend Indian Theatre. After attending NSD for three years (1996–1999) and earning an acting diploma, Neeraj eventually moved to Mumbai to pursue his acting career.
