Biography:
Katina Medina Mora is an award-winning Mexican-American writer, director and filmmaker working in international film, television and theater. Since starting her career directing short films, she has made a name for herself with a directorial style that features emotionally complex characters and stories that combine social commentary with visually stunning narratives. A graduate of the London Film School, Medina Mora’s projects often explore themes of identity, family, and the nuances of human connection.
Medina Mora’s debut feature, the micro-budget indie romance film LuTo, was released in 2013.
Her second feature, “Sabrs qu hacer conmigo,” was critically acclaimed with nominations for Best Director and Best Picture at the Diosas de Plata awards. Her latest feature, “Latido” (2023) starring Oscar-nominated actress Marina de Tavira, premiered at the Morelia and Mill Valley film festivals before being acquired for distribution on Amazon Prime Video. In addition to her feature film work, Medina Mora is an accomplished director of high-profile global television. She has helmed episodes of many successful series for major streamers including Netflix’s “Emily in Paris,” “XO, Kitty,” “Firefly Lane” and “Selena: The Series” as well as Apple TV+’s “Swagger,” and Amazon Prime Video’s “The Summer I Turned Pretty.”
