James Nesbitt
Biography:
Northern Ireland-born actor William James Nesbitt was born on January 15, 1965. Nesbitt performed in plays for seven years starting in 1987, ranging from the political drama Paddywack (1994) to the musical Up on the Roof (1987, 1989). In Hear My Song (1991), he made his feature film debut as talent agent Fintan O’Donnell. He earned a British Comedy Award, a Television and Radio Industries Club Award, and a National Television Award for his breakthrough performance as Adam Williams in the romantic comedy-drama series Cold Feet (1997–2003, 2016–2020).
In Waking Ned (1998), Nesbitt played pig farmer “Pig” Finn in his first notable movie role. He was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award along with the rest of the main cast. He made his feature film debut as prisoner Jimmy Hands in Lucky Break (2001). He portrayed Ivan Cooper in the television movie Bloody Sunday, which was based on the Derry killings of 1972. The movie marked a shift in his career from his earlier “cheeky chappie” appearances. In addition to being a nominee for the British Academy Television Award for Best Actor, he received a British Independent Film Award.
