Spanish actor Ignacio Mateos was born in Malaga in 1979. He received his first training at La Barraca de Alicia Hermida in Madrid, then at Juan Carlos Corazza and Mar Navarro’s schools. Moving to Paris, he worked with Arianne Mnouchkine’s company, with whom he co-produced ‘Le Dernier Caravansereil’ from 2003 to 2004. He went on to train at L’Ecole de Philippe Gaulier in Paris. When he returned to Spain, he worked on the Antonio Rojano-directed drama “La Decadencia en Varsovia” for the Centro Andaluz de Teatro (CAT).
He began working on his own projects, adapting Thomas Berhart’s “El Presidente,” which had its Madrid premiere at LaCasa de la Portera, and producing other shows, including “En Familia,” at the Pension de las Fleas with his own production firm. “La Banda Picasso” by Fernando Colomo (who portrays the painter whose original version is in French), “Lejos del Mar” by Imanol Uribe, “Animals without a collar” by Jota Linares, “Malaka,” “La Templanza,” and “El Case” are some of the works he highlighted by fusing theater, film, and television. ‘Danzad malditos’, which won the Breakthrough Show Max, was also created by him with a large cast.
‘Jauría’, which was directed by Miguel del Arco, the final Max for Best Editing of 2019, is currently on tour with him. ‘Animals without a collar’ earned him a nomination for the 2018 Feroz Awards’ best supporting actor category. He was awarded the Silver Biznaga for his professional achievements at the Malaga film festival in 2020.
