Biography:

Hitesh Bhatia is a Bollywood filmmaker, screenwriter, and director renowned for his contributions to Indian movies and digital media. Prior to venturing into full-length film direction, he had spent more than a decade directing television advertisements and documentary films, thus giving him a unique visual aesthetic and a profound understanding of characters. His screenplay for ‘Sharmaji Namkeen’, based on his father, was selected for NFDC Screenwriters’ Lab, which marked an important phase in his film career.

He started his career as a full-length film director with ‘Sharmaji Namkeen’, released in 2022, which starred Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal. The film is a heartwarming comedy-drama that got immense appreciation from critics for its humane approach towards life post-retirement and personal aspirations. Later, he directed a crime drama film titled ‘Dabba Cartel’ for Netflix (OTT channel). With a blend of warmth and humor, Hitesh Bhatia is one of the most promising contemporary directors of Indian cinema.
