Gopika Poornima, a notable Indian singer, is recognized for her contributions to Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada cinema. Born in Vizianagaram and raised in Hyderabad, she initially trained in Carnatic classical music under several renowned mentors, including Padmabhushan Smt. Sudha Raghunathan and Smt. Lalitha Sivakumar, among others. Gopika’s father, a senior manager in a central government office, supported her musical endeavors.
she also appeared in national-level musical reality shows like Star Plus Meri Aawaz Suno and Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, where she met her future husband, Mallikarjun, also a singer and composer in the Telugu film industry.
Gopika made her playback singing debut in the film “Singanna” in 1997, under the music direction of Vandemataram Srinivas. Her career boasts over 500 film songs and 4000 devotional tracks, collaborating with esteemed music composers such as Ilayaraja, A. R. Rahman, M. M. Keeravani, and many others.
She married Mallikarjun in 2008, and the couple has a daughter named Samhitha. Presently, they reside in Chennai, continuing their musical pursuits and contributions to the industry
