Biography:
Christoph Waltz is an Austrian-German film actor who gained popularity because of his roles in international productions, as well as his collaboration with famous director Quentin Tarantino. He was born on October 4, 1956, in Vienna, Austria. Waltz studied at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna and the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York. He worked on European television and theater productions for many years before gaining international fame in Inglourious Basterds (2009). In Tarantino’s movie, he played Colonel Hans Landa, a multilingual and cunning SS officer who helped him win international recognition.
For his performance in Inglourious Basterds, Christoph Waltz won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He also won the Oscar for the same category for his role as Dr. King Schultz in Tarantino’s Django Unchained (2012). Besides, he won two Golden Globe Awards and two BAFTA Awards for these movies. The rest of his notable films are Water for Elephants (2011), The Green Hornet (2011), Big Eyes (2014), Spectre (2015), Downsizing (2017), Alita: Battle Angel (2019), and No Time to Die (2021). Waltz has gained popularity because of his sophisticated acting style and multilingual movies, as well as his ability to play charismatic and morally ambiguous characters.
