Biography:

Apara Mehta is a celebrated Indian television and Bollywood actress, best known for her iconic role as Savita Mansukh Virani, Tulsi’s formidable mother-in-law, in the legendary TV show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Her strong screen presence and compelling performances have made her a household name in the Indian entertainment industry.

Born in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, Apara grew up as the only child of her parents and was deeply immersed in the arts from a young age. She began learning classical music and Kathak early on, showcasing her natural talent for performance. At just 15 years old, she made her television debut as the host of a children’s program on Ahmedabad Doordarshan, marking the beginning of her journey in the entertainment world.

Her personal life has also been intertwined with the industry. In 1980, she married renowned television and film actor Darshan Jariwala, with whom she shares a daughter. Though the couple later separated, they never legally divorced. Their personal dynamics were briefly showcased in the reality show Maa Exchange, which aired on Sony Entertainment Television.

Apara’s career naturally gravitated toward theatre, especially after marrying into a family with deep roots in the performing arts. Since 1981, she has been an active presence on stage, performing in over 150 plays across various genres and roles.
