Anshai Lal

Biography:

Anshai Lal is an Indian filmmaker and producer well-known for his work within Hindi cinema and streaming entertainment. Anshai was born and raised in New Delhi, where he pursued a degree in Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication from Indraprastha University. In 2005, he moved to Mumbai to pursue his career in the field of filmmaking. His first experiences in filmmaking included assistant directing, working with directors like Saket Chaudhary in the film Pyaar Ke Side Effects (2006) and with Shimit Amin in the film Chak De! India (2007). His other works include Dostana (2008), Housefull (2010), and Himmatwala (2013).

Anshai Lal made his debut as a director with a romantic comedy film called Phillauri (2017), featuring Anushka Sharma, Diljit Dosanjh, Suraj Sharma, and Mehreen Pirzada. His further works involved the film Bulbbul (2020) and the film Qala (2022), which he co-created as a creative producer. Anshai Lal co-directed, together with Atul Mongia, the series Mai: A Mother’s Rage (2022) created by Netflix and served as an executive producer of the series. The series features Sakshi Tanwar as the lead actress and narrates the story about a woman who investigates her daughter’s death and gets involved in the criminal world of her daughter’s murderers.
