Ananya Banerjee

Biography:

Ananya Banerjee is one of the well-known Indian directors, filmmakers, and writers who have created a unique niche for herself in the premium Over-The-Top (OTT) streaming platform of India. She was born in Delhi but received training from the prestigious AJK Mass Communication Research Centre (MCRC) Jamia Millia Islamia and later shifted to Mumbai in pursuit of films. Initially, she started her career as an assistant director in the financial-thriller feature film Baazaar (2018). She is known to remain very private and prefers letting her work do all the talking as she collaborates with the leading banners such as Emmay Entertainment to create high-quality long-form content.

The signature style of direction by Banerjee includes atmospheric visual style, intricate psychological aspect, and performances which surpass any typical genre convention.Banerjee came into prominence due to her directorship, writing, and creation of popular supernatural thriller series Adhura (2023) in Amazon Prime Video after working as a co-director and writer in the ZEE5 dark-comedy series Kaun Banegi Shikharwati (2022). Banerjee continues to strengthen her presence in the digital entertainment industry through upcoming premium projects such as creating and directing the most-awaited supernatural horror-thriller series Anarth in Amazon Prime Video.

Presently living in Mumbai, she is committed to her cinematography career and divides her time between directing and conceptualization of scripts based on regional folklore and psychological aspects.
